ABI Advanced Gene Expression Service Provider Program Expands Globally

Applied Biosystems, an Applera Corporation business, has announced its Advanced Gene Expression Service Provider Program has expanded globally with the addition of eleven microarray service provider centers throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
As part of their participation, the eleven companies and academic centers will offer Applied Biosystems microarray gene expression tools and services, including microarrays for human, mouse, and rat genes to enhance service providers’ business offerings.
The Program also includes technical support that is expected to enhance their ability to deliver advanced gene expression services to clients.
Researchers taking advantage of the microarray services will have the option to validate data from the Applied Biosystems microarrays using Applied Biosystems TaqMan® Gene Expression Assays and Real-Time PCR Systems.
"Microarray analysis is a major area of focus for our institution," said Shawn Levy, Ph.D., Director, Vanderbilt Microarray Shared Resource at Vanderbilt University.
"Participation in the Program will allow us to make strategic investment in our gene expression technology platform and realize a significant return through a service that will provide our researchers access to the most annotated gene content available and the highest-quality results."

The latest additions to Applied Biosystems Advanced Gene Expression Service Provider Program include: Bionomics Research and Technology Center at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Rutgers University (USA); Geneservice Limited (UK); Genome Express (France); IMGM Laboratories (Germany); Labindia (India); Macrogen (South Korea); Center for Medical Research, Medical University Graz (Austria); Ming Shin Biotech (Taiwan); Trinity College Dublin (Ireland); Norwegian Microarray Consortium, University of Bergen (Norway); and Vanderbilt Shared Microarray Resource (USA).

Participants will have access to the PANTHER™ Protein Classification System, a Service Provider web link on the Applied Biosystems Website, marketing collateral material development, and educational seminars.
As genome editing technologies advance toward clinical therapies, they are raising hopes of a completely new way to treat disease. However, challenges need to be addressed before potential treatments can be widely used in patients. To tackle these challenges, the National Institutes of Health has launched the Somatic Cell Genome Editing program, which has awarded multiple grants including more than $3.6 million to assess the safety of genome editing in human cells and tissues.
