BioTek Instruments, MilliporeSigma Combine Forces
News Apr 21, 2016
BioTek Instruments has announced its collaboration with MilliporeSigma on an integrated solution for long-term live cell experiments and dynamic time-lapse analyses, including automated cell perfusion and imaging.
The solution leverages each company’s respective expertise, and consists of BioTek’s new Lionheart™ FX Automated Live Cell Imager and MilliporeSigma’s new CellASIC® ONIX2 Microfluidic System.
This collaborative solution was introduced at the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting recently held April 16-20, 2016 in New Orleans, LA. The Lionheart FX Automated Live Cell Imager is optimized for live cell microscopy, with up to 100x magnification and brightfield, color brightfield, phase contrast and fluorescence channels.
Gen5™ 3.0 Software powers Lionheart FX, and allows quick and effortless cell image capture, analysis, annotation and time lapse video production. The CellASIC® ONIX2 Microfluidic System automates dynamic environmental control over live cells, with high precision controls, expansive functionality and user-friendly operation.
Its unique microfluidics technology provides hands-free control over drug addition, gas, temperature, media and more, along with customizable media flow rates.
Studying Ebola-Host Cell Interaction Helps Find Targets for Antiviral DrugsNews
In some ways, the Ebola virus operates like a vampire; only after it is politely invited in to a host cell does it take up the task of destroying everything in its path. In a new study researchers seek to elucidate quantitatively the biomechanical mechanism of Ebola-host cell interaction, providing potential new targets for antiviral drug development.READ MORE
Microanalysis of Biological Samples for Early Disease DetectionNews
A group of researchers from Osaka University has now developed a nonlinear optical crystal (NLOC) chip, which combines THz waves with a microfluidic device, utilizing the close proximity of the THz wave source and the solution of interest in a microchannel.READ MORE
