LasX’s patented LaserSharp® laser digital converting technology is ideal for the high volume manufacturing of next-generation microfluidic platforms because of its unmatched precision. Laser converting technology delivers a more accurate, efficient, and flexible solution for processing today’s complex microfluidic products, from prototype to full-scale production.
Surnetics develops technology solutions for enabling and improving liquid flow within channels in microfluidic products. Surnetics has developed a patent portfolio for gradient coatings; for example, a coating that changes in hydrophilicity (or other properties) over the length of the channel. This technology allows for fluid to flow through a channel without the need for pumps, valves, wicking strips, or any other external force. The technology can be used to control flow features on a product while greatly reducing the cost and size of the product.
Tom Daul, Program Development Manager for LasX stated, “Together, these enabling technologies allow customers to achieve more accurate, cost-effective microfluidic platforms than ever before.” Brian Babcock, President and founder of Surnetics added, "We are very pleased to establish this relationship with LasX. They have been an industry leader in the manufacture of precision, high volume microfluidic products for life sciences and bring a great deal of product design and manufacturing expertise that can be combined with Surnetics’ expertise in coatings and fluid flow optimization. This agreement presents a tremendous opportunity for both companies to develop new product platforms using our combined capabilities.”
