CEM Corporation, sponsor of the 5th International Microwaves in Chemistry Conference, has announced that Prof. Steven V. Ley, renowned for his work in many areas of organic chemistry, will be the Keynote Speaker for the 2007 conference in London.

Dr. Ley is BP (1702) Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Cambridge, and is a Fellow of Trinity College.

A former president of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Dr. Ley’s research has included iron chemistry, encapsulated reagents, microbial oxidation, spiroketals, and technologies for performing chemistry.

He has also conducted extensive research in the area of organic catalysis and was one of the inventors of TPAP, a catalytic oxidant that is now cited extensively and used worldwide.
