Read time: Less than a minute

Protagen AG has assigned the management of the newly formed business unit Protein Biochips to Jens Beator, PhD.

Jens Beator (43) has ten years of experience in the biotechnology business, gained during his employment at Whatman, formerly Schleicher & Schuell BioScience.

As director of Business Development Protein Arrays Europe, he was decisively responsible for the expansion of the European sales.

Prior to this, he was significantly involved into the business expansion on the Asian market. His main focus was on clients from industry and academia.

Jens Beator initialized several scientific cooperations in clinical research and in in-vitro diagnostics, opening new markets for protein biochips.

Within Protagen AG Jens Beator is now responsible for the technical development of the UNIchip® family, introduced into the market in September 2005.

He will be assisted by a team of eight scientists and well-trained technicians.

Beator was born in Lower Saxony, Germany, and studied biology in Boston and Hanover, Germany, and passed his diploma as well as his PhD at the institute of botany with distinction.

He started his professional career as product manager at Schleicher & Schuell, prior to his occupation for the sales department of Biometra and Thermo Shandon (1999 until 2001).
