SRU Biosystems' BIND™ in Proteomics Research

Read time: Less than a minute

SRU Biosystems has announced that the June, 2006 issue of Expert Review of Proteomics featured SRU BIND™ technology in its Technology Review section.

In an article entitled "Microplate-based label-free detection of biomolecular interactions: Applications in proteomics and drug discovery" by Brian T. Cunningham and Lance Laing, the authors describe many attributes of BIND™ photonic crystal biosensors.

The recently published article summarizes research advances made in the field of photonic crystal biosensors and the instruments that read them.

The article highlights the aspects of the SRU BIND™ label-free technology, especially as it applies to proteomics research.

SRU BIND™ is designed to provide the label-free quantitative analysis of protein interactions, allowing the study of native complex formation with proteins, small molecules, or cells.

The same sensor technology allows for the study of proteomic systems using BIND™ sensors in microplates or micro-arrayed formats.

According to coauthor Dr. Lance Laing, who directs chemistry and bioapplications for SRU Biosystems, "SRU BIND™ can become the method by which all proteomics interactions are qualified and quantified for composition and activity, without degrading the quality of subsequent important experimental steps."
