Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) antibodies detected by peptide microarrays
HBV and HIVenv chips with overlapping oligopeptides encompassing the full amino acid sequences of HBV and HIV polypeptides were produced. In addition, a chip displaying a library of random 4608 different 15-mers peptides (4608-RPL) was prepared. Both chips were used for analyzing monoclonal antibodies and sera from HIV- and HBV-infected individuals. 4608-RPL could be used for identifying target sequences of antibodies without prior knowledge of the corresponding immunizing antigen.

Transfecting Small Molecules, Peptides
The Nucleofector® Technology enables efficient and reproducible transfection of primary cells and cell lines at throughputs of up to 96 samples per run. Nucleofection® now extends its range of application to deliver small molecules substrates and protein substrates such as peptides, proteins and antibodyconjugates.

SuperNatural: A Database of Available Natural Compounds
The majority of marketed drugs are natural compounds or derivatives thereof. The compounds availability is often unclear. Therefore we have compiled a database of ~50,000 natural compounds. Starting point for in silico screenings are about 2,500 well-known, classified natural compounds or imported molecules. Possible medical applications can be detected and about three million conformers computed to account for the flexibility during usage of the 3D-superposition algorithm.

Nucleic Acid Reagents and Experimental Results in the NCBI Probe Database
Five years ago, the NCBI Probe database (ProbeDB) was established to provide a centralized archive of molecular probes used in biomedical applications. Currently ProbeDB contains around 10 million probes of 65 types including gene silencing agents, in situ hybridization probes, and probes for variation analysis and genome mapping. Presently, ProbeDB is the largest and most extensive database of this type available in public domain.

Regulatory requirements in the development of advanced therapy products (cell-, gene therapy, tissue engineering products)
Regulatory authorities are active to ensure a good regulatory environment for somatic cell therapy-, gene therapy- and tissue engineering products (in the EU known as ‘Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products’). Both the EMEA and the FDA have, amongst others, issued guidelines to address the specific aspects of these products

An improved data processing pipe-line for comprehensive H-NMR and X/MS -omics data
In the post acqusition analysis of comprehensive -omics data the pre-processing pipe-line is crucial to extract the maximum possible amount of information from the data. Here we show a processing pipe-line for (1D)H-NMR and (2D)X/MS data comprising; feature detection, inter-sample feature alignment and internal-standard free normalization that outperforms today’s state-of-the-art processing schemes.

Alignment of 1H-NMR data using a Generalized Fuzzy Hough Transform
In metabolic profiling, multivariate data analysis techniques are used to interpret 1D 1H–NMR data. Multivariate data analysis techniques require that peaks are located in the same variables in every spectrum – this requirement is not met in native NMR spectra. Current state-of-the-art alignment algorithms are unable to align peaks when the spatial order of the peaks changes. We present the Fuzzy Generalized Hough Transform alignment which solves the alignment problem.

1H NMR for the Accurate Quantification of Analytical Reference Standards
NMR can be used for the quantification of minute quantities of standard compounds. The high specificity of NMR signals permits absolute quantifications independent of the presence of impurities. The feasibility and limits of NMR application are demonstrated through the analysis of algal toxins and polar substances in butter.

Fast PK and Semi Quantitative Analysis of Metabolites Using High Resolution MS
It has become essential to eliminate poor candidates as early as possible in the drug development process. This realization led to the application of high throughput principles to the in vivo Lead Optimization process, wherein the NCE is first given to rodents to determine the PK profile in a rapid and limited study. This rapid primary screen is known as Fast PK and several critical decisions are based on this initial study.

LC-MS Approaches to Profiling of Non-Radiolabelled Metabolites in Response to Recent Regulatory Changes
Following publication of the FDA MIST guidelines and revision of ICH M3, there is increasing interest in obtaining metabolic profiling data at an early stage in the development of a drug. This has led to a requirement to estimate the relative abundance of metabolites in samples prior to the synthesis of the radiolabelled compound and from a wider range of studies.
