Fingerprinting the Terpene Profiles of Various Cannabis Strains using GC and GCxGC with High Performance TOFMS
The Pegasus BT 4D facilitates fast and confident cannabis product “fingerprinting” through enhanced two-dimensional chromatographic resolution and high performance TOFMS.
Robust compound identification was achieved through spectral similarity searches of large, well-established databases, mass D determinations, and retention index filtering.

Knockout of microRNAs Using the CRISPR-Cas9 System with Paired Synthetic crRNAs
We utilized paired synthetic crRNAs coupled with our synthetic tracrRNA in cells transduced with lentiviral Cas9 to perform a functional knockout on hsa-miR-221. This three-part system (crRNA, tracrRNA and Cas9) has demonstrated efficient gene editing when used with only one guide RNA, but the goal was to use two crRNAs to remove the entire stem-loop.

Using Remote Sensing Methodologies to Combat Schistosomiasis in Northern Senegal
Schistosomiasis is associated with poverty, a lack of clean water and sanitation and is is transmitted through snail vector. Remote sensing methodologies were used to identify types of vegetation that are significantly associated with snail presence as previous studies had shown that removal of certain aquatic vegetation decreased the prevalence of schistosomiasis in nearby villages.

Screening of ALDH2 Interactome by Combined Immunoprecipitation and Mass Spectrometry
ALDH2 may have an unidentified protein interaction network, which would help elucidate its importance in various cellular functions. The combination of immunoprecipitation and mass spectrometry will give us insights that could not be easily attained otherwise.

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis: The Importance of Multiple-site Sampling
This research project attempts to highlight the importance of sampling from multiple sites of the lungs of patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Examining the histopathology of the human lung samples with IPF shows varying levels of fibrosis in different sites of the lung. To ensure an accurate representation of a patient's lungs, it is important to obtain samples from multiple sites on the lobes of the lungs.

Hepatocellular Carcinoma with Small Cell Histology: A Rare Mimic of Metastatic Tumors Involving the Liver
Two cases of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with small cell histology, a rare morphologic variant of HCC, are presented.

Identification of genes involved in cell cycle regulation using arrayed synthetic CRISPR RNA libraries in a multiparameter high-content assay
Gene knockout using CRISPR-Cas9 has dramatically transformed biological research and has been rapidly applied to loss-of-function screening primarily using pooled lentiviral sgRNA libraries. A synthetic CRISPR RNA (crRNA) approach is amenable to screening in arrayed, well-by-well fashion and expands the types of phenotypic readouts that can be used, including high-content and morphology-based assays.

Nitrogen metabolism in Mycobacterium tuberculosis: a systems-based approach
Previous studies suggested that Mycobacterium tuberculosis obtains nitrogen from a diverse range of intracellular nutrients including amino acids. Here, we use a novel system’s based three-pronged approach to define pathways for uptake and assimilation of nitrogen.
