A multianalyte algorithm PCR-based blood test outperforms single analyte ELISA-based blood tests for neuroendocrine tumor detection
In a prospective study, in age-/sex- and ethnicity-matched patients and controls (n=82), a 51 panel multigene blood transcript test (NETest) was identified to be significantly more sensitive and accurate (>93%) than any single analyte assay (Chromogranin A, Pancreastatin or Neurokinin A) for neuroendocrine tumor detection.

Droplet Microfluidics for 3D Epithelial Cell Culture
The challenge facing 3D cell culture today is to adapt current models to a systems biology approach - in particular, to enable RNA interference-based screens to study the effects of the microenvironment on cellular function.

New Sorbent from Agro-industrial Waste and its Potential Use in 17ß-Estradiol and 17α-Ethynylestradiol Removal
In recent years, the increasing introduction of new chemicals in the market, and the development of more accurate analytical methods, added a variety of endocrine disruptors compounds (EDC). Even though they are found in very low concentrations (range of ng L-1) there is still a lack of knowledge about long-term risks of EDC for non-target organisms as well as for human health.

Design of Mixed-Criticality Applications on Distributed Real-Time Systems
In this thesis, we are interested in mixed-criticality applications (both in the safety and time domains) implemented using heterogeneous processing elements (PE) interconnected using TTEthernet. We address the problem of synthesizing mixed-criticality applications on partitioned architectures, at the PE level and at the communication level.

Isolation, Identification, and Determination of Designer Anabolic Steroids Commonly Found in Dietary Supplements
A general analytical approach in identifying emerging steroid-like compounds is presented, including analysis by GC-MS, LC-MS, and/or HPLC-UV. Isolation of unknown compounds was achieved by high performance liquid chromatography with fraction collection. Isolated compounds were characterized by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy and high resolution accurate mass-mass spectrometry to elucidate their structure.

Artifacts in histopathology: An experimental study
For diagnosis of many lesions histopathology is still a gold standard. The practice of histopathology involves mainly diagnosing slides stained with hematoxylin and eosin under a microscope. During the process of producing these slides in laboratory, errors can lead to eroneous picture on the slides. Such unwanted errors are termed as artifacts. Literature on such artifacts are sparse so this through this poster we show various artifacts that can occur.
