Gene expression Microarray data covers both signal (active key genes) and noise. A tentative to recognize any genes expression pattern without clearing the data is like recognizing faces and details on a jammed TV screen: it is hard and we have a high chance to be mistaken. Noise in this context can be related to fluctuation due to the experimental condition, to outliers, and also genes presenting no modulation between groups. In this work we present a biostatisticalmethod for noise filtering and statistical significance assessment.
Inhibition of The Auto-inflammation Suppressor Protein ISG15 Triggers Preeclampsia by Blocking Trophoblast Migration and InvasionPoster
In summary, ISG15 expression levels are crucial for trophoblast morphology and function (migration/invasion). By blocking trophoblast invasion, reduced ISG15 levels could contribute to impaired spiral artery transformation that reduces utero-placental blood flow in preeclampsia. Thus, agents inducing ISG15 expression are likely to be therapeutic in preeclampsia.
An Emerging Phenotype of Partial RAG 1/2 Deficiency Among Young Children with Autoimmunity and Viral InfectionsPoster
We describe the natural history of a cohort of 12 patients with confirmed partial RAG1/2 mutations and autoimmunity at a young age. We were seeking the link between viral infections and autoimmunity and tested candidate biomarkers that may reflect the underlying RAG1/2 protein deficiency.READ MORE
Immunotherapy on Chip: “Under the Microscope” Drug-induced Modulation of the Immune ResponsePoster
The immune system is a striking example of an integrated information system, engaged in coordinated host-protective activities. Organs-on-chip approach (OOC) models allow the direct simultaneous observation of hundreds of different cells, moving, interacting and responding to signals coming from the microenvironment nearby, that give access to a number of parameters describing the system that must be properly measured and elaborated.READ MORE
