Ionic Strength Dependence of Formation Constants, Protonation and Complexation of Asparagine with Thallium (I)

The stability constants of the complexes between thallium(I) ion and L-asparagine were determined potentiometrically at various ionic strengths of I=0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9 mol.dm-3 and 20°C. The sodium perchlorate solution was used to maintain the ionic strength. The parameters based on these formation constants were calculated and the dependence of protonation and the stability constants on ionic strength are described by a Debye-Huckel type equation.
