Here scientists propose an experimental model where the replenishment of the depleted stem cell compartment of human skin may be explored using a dermal epidermal equivalent system, composed by 50 Gy irradiated extracellular collagen matrix, adipocytes derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs) and normal keratinocytes.
Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) is widely used in vitro for the maintenance and stimulation of a variety of cells. However, use of native bFGF in cell biology is limited by the fact that bFGF rapidly degrades at physiological temperatures.
