Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. has announced the availability of a bulletin describing the ProteinChip® system starter kit, a focused, step-by-step introductory course for life science researchers new to SELDI technology and the ProteinChip SELDI system.

A complete training tool that includes reagents, arrays, and a video tutorial, the ProteinChip system starter kit teaches users the essentials, from reading ProteinChip arrays to profiling human serum and analyzing the results for reproducibility and peak count.

The kit also provides data evaluation tools, tips, and recommendations to help life science researchers obtain the expected results from the ProteinChip SELDI system. Illustrating the basic technology of the ProteinChip SELDI system, the video tutorial begins with a visual description of the anatomy of a ProteinChip array and ends with instructions for performing mass calibrations. Skill level testing and software basics are also provided in the kit.

Included in the ProteinChip system starter kit is the new ProteinChip peptide mass calibration array. Prepared with a matrix and seven peptides, this array can be used to perform mass calibrations in the peptide regions in as little as ten minutes.
