α-synuclein aggregation is a hallmark characteristic of Parkinson’s disease. Recent studies have revealed that microglia, activated by α-synuclein, can produce cytokines that in turn cause neurons to express MHC I. If these neurons express a specific combination of MHC alleles and peptide, they are targeted for destruction by CD8+ T cells. BioLegend provides reagents to specifically identify antigen-specific T cells with our MHC tetramer technology: Flex-T™. In addition, we offer several phospho- and conformation-specific antibodies for the detection of α-synuclein.
