MagMAX Microbiome Ultra Nucleic Acid Isolation Kit
Read time: Less than a minute

The MagMAX Microbiome Ultra Nucleic Acid Isolation Kit is a new high-throughput sample processing tool used to advance microbiome research. This kit helps recover RNA and DNA from the toughest, nastiest samples used in microbiome work, such as stool and soil samples. The kit utilizes MagMAX magnetic-bead technology, ensuring reproducible recovery of high-quality nucleic acid compatible with a broad range of applications. These include microarrays, real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and next-generation sequencing.

“We are excited about advances in the microbiome research community and pleased to support this work with an automated purification kit for microbial DNA,” said Jeff Franz, product management leader for sample preparation at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “The latest offering in our portfolio of MagMAX isolation kits gives researchers and labs the ability to spend less hands-on time with unfriendly samples. The MagMAX Microbiome Ultra kit combines a unique enzymatic solution with a high-throughput capability on KingFisher instruments. This allows researchers to process up to 96 samples in just 60 minutes. We initially launched a spin column-based product in 2015, the PureLink Microbiome kit, and our customers immediately requested an automated version of that kit,” said Franz. “Now we are glad to introduce the MagMAX Microbiome kit utilizing magnetic beads. The kit can be used with our KingFisher instruments to cut down on preparation time and increase time spent advancing microbiome research.”
