Identification and classification of antifouling compounds secreted by anti MIC microorganisms. A metabolomic analysis.

BIOCORIN project, aims to develop a green alternative to the coatings and solutions used up to date for MIC corrosion control. Some of the results of this project are presented here, with the identification of several relevant antifouling compounds secreted by environmentally isolated anti-MIC strains of microorganisms via a metabolomic approach.

Rapid Metabolite Identification using Advanced Algorithms for Mass Spectral Interpretation

Recognizing differences between related LC/MS data sets is the basic premise for the determination of potential metabolites in drug development. Finding small differences between two or more datasets requires a deep and rigorous analysis of each data set to extract and determine those m/z values that give rise to chromatographic peaks.

Determination of Metabolically Unstable Drugs in Blood by Heat-Stabilized DBS and LC-MS/MS

The aims of this work were to investigate drug stability prior to, during and after blood spot sampling, using procaine, prulofloxacine, esmolol, and acetylsalisylic acid as examples of drug compounds with limited stability and to compare conventional DBS sampling procedure with DBS sampling including heat stabilization.

LC/MS/MS Quantitation of Eicosapentaenoic Acid in Rat Plasma

Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) is an omega-3 fatty acid, which has been documented to be important in biochemical and physiological processes including inflammatory response, blood clotting and the immune system. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) appears in different forms in the blood including triglyceride, ethyl ester, or free acid. In this work we presented an LC/MS/MS method to quantitate the total eicosapentaenoic acid in rat plasma with a 96-well plate format.

Determination of Water-and Fat-Soluble Vitamins in Gummies by Reversed-Phase Liquid Chromatography

Separation and determination of the vitamins was achieved by RP-LC. For most vitamins, quantitative results close to the label claim are determined. The stability of the vitamin extracts and potential interference by co- extracted sugar are being investigated to improve these results prior to validation of the final method.

Ion Chromatography ICP-Q-MS for the Detection of Arsenic Species in Apple Juice

Interest in the determination of Arsenic species in fruit juices has been triggered by recent media reports in the United States claiming that some apple juices may contain high amounts of Arsenic. Inorganic forms of Arsenic (As3+ and As5+) are highly toxic, whereas the organic forms (e.g. arsenobetaine) are not considered toxic. A robust IC-ICP-MS system was developed and shown to be a highly selective and sensitive technique for determination of trace element species.
