A Badge That Measures Exposures to Dangerous Chemicals

From deodorant to pesticides, every day we encounter dozens of products that release molecules that drift through the air and could end up in our lungs.

Breathing in enough of the wrong compounds can cause health issues that range from mild to deadly. Until now, measuring environmental exposure to these chemicals has been difficult. But researchers at Airotect have developed a new personal air-sampling system that can detect more than 100 different compounds in one device. Previously, a person might have to wear multiple collection devices if they wanted to track exposure to different chemicals.
