Growing eyes in the lab may seem somewhat futuristic, but it's a reality for Dr Mariya Moosajee and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.

Eye cups grown in the lab may give insight into new therapies like eye transplants and stem cell therapy for eye diseases.


Dr Mariya Moosajee is a consultant ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and a senior lecturer at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.
