Wood Sponges that Soak Up Oil

Researchers reporting in ACS Nano have created sponges made from wood that selectively absorb oil, and then can be squeezed out and used again. The sustainable sponges could someday be used to clean up oil spills and other greasy pollutants. ACS Headline Science shows how these resilient sponges can soak up as much as 40 times their own weight in oil.
