Uncovering the Lineage of Extraction and the Future of the Craft

Uncovering the Lineage of Extraction and the Future of the Craft content piece image

The principles of extraction are quite simple and frequently used in our daily lives. When you brew a pot of coffee or make a cup of tea, the principles of chemical separation are occurring where you are splitting compounds such as the aroma, flavor, and nutrients from the organic matter. In chemistry, extraction consists of removing desired and sometimes undesirable constituents from a given matrix via a chemical or physical mechanism. There are several methods of extraction including but not limited to liquid-liquid, solid phase, supercritical & subcritical fluid, ultrasound- & microwave- assisted and solventless mechanical extraction.

Within the cannabis/hemp industry, we heavily depend upon these extraction techniques to separate terpenoids, flavonoids, and cannabinoids from raw materials where different solvents and variables are manipulated to achieve the desired product. During this webinar we will discuss the history of extraction and what became prominent in the industry, the most common methodologies of extraction currently used and the technical developments of each and the future of cannabis extraction and innovative technologies.

During this webinar we will discuss:

  • The history of extraction and what became prominent in the industry
  • Current extraction methodologies commonly used and their developments
  • What the future holds for cannabis extraction and technologies at the forefront of the industry
